Alex Okafor, DE || Texas

Name: Alex Okafor
School: Texas
Position: DE
Game: Oklahoma
Final Game Grade: 6.49

Alex Okafor at times may get over shadowed by fellow DE, Jackson Jeffocat at Texas. On paper/stats, Jeffcoat looks a little better. However, in recent games, I believe it has been Okafor who has demonstrated he can be a defensive weapon and talent for the next level.

Okafor does a nice job of play recognition, making the adjustments to get to the ball carrier. He displayed a very good COD when breaking off the pass rush to drop into coverage, and batted down a ball during the game.

One draw back I saw during the game was he can get locked up high on outside pass rushes, as well needing to work on his outside pass rush.

A position change may be in his future at the next level, perhaps to linebacker if he stays at his current weight/size. He would need to add 10 to 15 pounds if he wanted to play DE at the NFL level. I believe he will make the change to LB, depending on what team drafts him into their defensive scheme.
